ANNAPURNA BASE CAMP TREK: A COMPLETE TRAVEL GUIDE.

Introduction

The Annapurna base camp trek is one of the most known treks in the world. It brings the trekkers a face to face with an eight-thousander – for a moderate-difficult trek, and that is incredible! 

Kathmandu to Pokhara

215 km is the total distance to drive. It takes almost 7 hours to cover this distance. The tourists have to reach Pokhara from Kathmandu either by taking a bus or flying in from Kathmandu.

Pokhara to Lower Ghandruk. Trek to Komrong

55 km is the total distance between these two destinations. It takes almost 3-4 hours to cover this distance. This point has an altitude gain of 2,760 ft to 5,415 ft. The level of this trek here is moderate.

Komrong to Chhomrong

7 km is the distance between these two places. It takes almost 5-6 hours to cover this distance. This place has an altitude loss of 7,380 ft to 7,120 ft. This trek begins with a short gradual descent for about an hour. This trek is also followed by an ascent all the way to Chomrung. There are tea houses on the way for refreshment.

Chhomrong to Dovan

The trek distance is 10.50 km and approximately 6-7 hours are required to cover this distance. The altitude gain is 7,120 ft to 8,460 ft. The level of the trek here varies from moderate to difficult. The initial descent for 20 minutes is followed by a steep ascent for about an hour. The gradual ascent for half an hour is later followed by a steep 30-minute descent. It can be finished with a 2-hour ascent to Dovan. Tea houses are there on the way for refreshment.

Dovan to Machapuchare Base Camp

The trek distance to be covered here is 10 km. The duration to cover this distance is 6-7 hours. The altitude gains are 8,460 ft to 12,135 ft. The trek begins with a gradual ascent and it proceeds in a series of gradual and steep ascents. There are tea stalls on the way to refill water bottles and all.

Machapuchare Base Camp to Annapurna Base Camp

The total trekking distance from these two camps is 3.50 km and it takes roughly two hours to drive this distance. The altitude gain is from 12,135 ft to 13,550 ft. The level of this trek is moderate. There is a steep ascent in the beginning for about 1 km and after which the trail ascends gradually to reach ABC. 

Annapurna Base Camp to Bamboo

The trek distance is 15.50 km between Annapurna Base Camp and Bamboo. The duration required is 8-9 hours. The altitude loss is 13,550 ft to 7,675 ft. The level of trekking here is moderate-difficult. There is a mix of steep and gradual descent, tracing the same route back. 

Bamboo to Jhinu

The Trek distance between these two points is 10 km. The duration is 6-7 hours. The altitude loss is 7,675 ft to 5,770 ft. The level of this trek varies from moderate to difficult. Another steep descent for about 45 minutes followed by another steeply descending trail all the way. 

Jhinu to Syauli Bazaar and return drive to Pokhara

The Trek distance covered here is 6 km. The duration is 4 hours. The altitude loss is 5,770 ft 4,580 ft. The level of trek is from easy to moderate.

The mountain ranges included in this area bring tourists through Pine, Oak, Rhododendron, and lush green rice fields engraved with a diamond-like carpet of snow amidst majestic slopes of misty valleys. The Annapurna Base Camp Trek is around a vast area of the Annapurna Conservation Area. Trekkers will be walking across the Modi river and could discover some of the massive peaks of 7000-8000m. This allows them to have all the beautiful memories they possibly can.
